ROOM TWO & MISS MILLIE'S NYE DJ COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. Organisers
    This competition is organized by Room Two, in partnership with Miss Millie's, the Old Stillage, and Hey! What? (“the Organisers”). For questions, please contact hamish@heywhat.co.uk.

  2. Eligibility Criteria
    Entrants must be aged 18-65 and reside in the United Kingdom.
    No travel, accommodation, or subsistence is provided as part of the prize.
    Employees, contractors, and relatives of Room Two, Miss Millie’s, the Old Stillage, or Hey! What? are not eligible to participate.

  3. Competition Entry
    Entry is free and limited to one submission per person.
    Entrants must submit a DJ mix through SoundCloud, MixCloud, or by uploading an MP3 file via Google Drive, Dropbox, or a similar file-sharing platform.
    The Organisers reserve the right to listen to only part of each submitted mix and are not obligated to listen to submissions in full.
    By submitting, entrants confirm that their entry is their original work and that they hold any necessary permissions for the material within.

  4. Entry Period
    Entries open on Wednesday 13th November and close at 11:59 pm on Sunday, 1st December 2024.
    Late entries will not be accepted, and the Organisers are not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected, or incomplete due to technical or other reasons.

  5. Judging Criteria
    Submissions will be judged based on three equally weighted criteria.
    Music Style: Relevance to the programming of the night.
    Track Selection: Quality, originality, and audience appeal.

  6. Mixing Ability: Technical skill and creativity.
    Judging will take place between the closing date and Wednesday, 18th December 2024. All decisions made by the judging panel are final.

  7. Winner Notification
    Winners will be notified by email by end of day on Thursday, 5th December 2024.
    To confirm acceptance of the prize, winners must reply to the notification email by 11:59 pm on Friday, 20th December 2024. Failure to respond by this deadline will result in forfeiture of the prize, and an alternative winner may be selected.
    The Organisers reserve the right to verify winners’ identity and eligibility before awarding the prize.

  8. Prizes
    Each winner will be awarded a £100 payment for performing a 1.5-hour DJ set on New Year's Eve at the Old Stillage venue.
    Winners must be prepared to perform using a Pioneer RX3 console provided by the venue; no additional equipment, technical support, or expenses will be provided.

    Winners will need to supply an invoice in order to be paid.

  9. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other alternatives.
    Prizes will be paid within two weeks of the gig.
    Winners will not be paid if they do not turn up to the gig.

  10. Publicity and Promotional Usage
    By accepting the prize, winners agree to allow Room Two, Miss Millie’s, the Old Stillage, and Hey! What? to use their names, photographs, and submitted mixes for promotional purposes, both online and offline, without additional compensation. Written consent will be obtained before any public use of winners’ materials.
    Participants’ personal details will not be shared with third parties without consent, except as required for administering the competition.

  11. Liability
    The Organisers are not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury suffered by entrants as a result of entering this competition or accepting the prize, except for liability that cannot be excluded by law.
    In the event that the New Year's Eve event at the Old Stillage is canceled, the Organisers are under no obligation to provide an alternative prize or compensation.
    Entries found to contain copyrighted, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate material will be disqualified.

  12. Disqualification
    The Organisers reserve the right to disqualify any entrant whose conduct is deemed to violate these terms and conditions or interfere with the competition in any way.
    Disqualified entries will not be returned or reviewed further.

  13. Privacy and Data Protection
    Personal data collected from entrants will be used solely for administering this competition, unless participants opt in to receive marketing communications from Room Two or Miss Millie’s.
    All personal data will be processed and stored in accordance with GDPR regulations. For more information on data protection, please contact hamish@heywhat.co.uk.

  14. General
    These terms and conditions are governed by English law, and participants agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
    The Organisers reserve the right to amend, modify, or cancel the competition or these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice if factors outside their control affect the competition’s fairness or integrity.
